DGS PTO Minutes

June 8, 2011

Meeting was called to order by President Kim Frauli. Present were:  Amber Tarnowski, Marion Harris, Michelle Imhoff, Shelley Peck, Kim Frauli, Tammy Pulver, Patricia Marshall, Kelly Bruce, Ben Bailey, Aimee Becker, and Gretchen Treglio.

TREASURER’S REPORT

                Kelly Bruce will be new treasurer.

MARKET DAY REPORT

                June 15 will be last pickup day of the year

NEW BUSINESS

UNIVERSITY OF PARENTS (UP)

A teacher/parent cooperative to provide parents with resources and tools to better assist their children before beginning school and once enrolled.

Possible Services Provided:

                Monthly newsletter

                Informational classes/sessions

Cooperate with the current Academic Assistance Program-to help provide resources for volunteers.

Cooperate with school libraries and Prairie Creek Public Library

                UP Pilot Project: Student Book Swap

                                Held in gym during Open House

                                Will need volunteers

Information regarding event can be sent out with registration packets, school supply lists, welcome letters, and/or advertised in the local paper.

MEETING GUEST SPEAKERS

                Once a month, feature a guest speaker before the PTO meeting.

                Capital campaign – fundraising toward specific cause (Budget must be done first)
